Wood working experience that encourages personal growth, confidence to face life's challenges, increase self-worth, and to have a reminders.
The story started when I wanted to make memories with my grandpa. I felt like I didn’t really know him because he was quiet. He did woodworking and so I asked him if he could teach me how to make a box. He said no which I was so surprise. Normally, he would have been happy to help. I told my mom, what grandpa said. My mom felt like grandpa had forgotten how to work with wood. I still wanted and had a desire to make something. I had the thought to make a ring, but I didn’t know how to make one. I receive help to from my sister who encouraged me to look it up the internet. My dad and his tools help to find a way to succeed. I made a wood ring and I felt so proud of myself. I continued to make wood rings for friends and family. I would add a personal message on the inside of the ring. I felt that I was giving them piece of my heart as I labored to make each individual ring. I learned a very valuable life lesson during the process. The experience of making a wood ring took time, effort, and patience. The rough sand paper against wood is what shapes it, but the shaping of the wood took time to change it into something with meaning and worth. The same process applies to challenges in life. Our challenges may hurt. We might get a little roughed. These moments are what shape us and give us perceive of ourselves and worth. I wanted to do something with this newfound information. I wanted to help others see the great worth in themselves, and to have something to remind them when life gets hard.
“Dionne has an unique talent that’s hard to find in this world. She is very skilled in making wooden rings and has lots of different options to choose from. I enjoyed making my own ring and completely cherished it. An excellent teacher and very easy to learn from.”

"Making a wood ring was a really fun and cool experience. It was cool to see something seemingly ordinary like a small piece of wood turn into something beautiful. Wearing the wood ring is a reminder of what went into its creation with a little bit of patience, work, and guidance from Dionne. A piece ordinary wood turned into something I value. It’s also a great conversation starter and reminder of a fun activity with friends!”

Alex Woffinden had a tree in her yard that was there sense her great grandpa had the house. The tree was dying, and had to be cut down. We cut the wood up and let it dry, and made rings and a key chain as a way to cherish memories. She stated that"I really enjoyed making the rings! it was very therapeutic and it was nice to work with my hands and be proud of what I was able to make!"
